Screening history
Personally, I found Terrifier 2 to be a step up from the first movie. The structure felt a lot tighter, and it kept its momentum without falling flat at any point for me. It’s clear a lot of care went into pacing and building tension, which made the horror moments land harder.
I completely get why people aren’t into “gore-porn”, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s okay. My only real gripe is the ending, which felt a bit longer than I would’ve liked and the final sequences did feel somewhat repetitive.
Some of the criticisms online feel a bit over the top. Horror doesn’t always have to be “serious” cinema it can be messy, gory, and outrageous, and Terrifier 2 embraces that fully. For what it sets out to do, it delivers, and fans of the genre should just enjoy it for what it is rather than overanalyzing every detail.
All in all, it’s a worthy follow-up, leaning into its horror-comedy-gore roots while offering more coherence and impact than its predecessor.
