The Toradora Restoration Project aims to preserve and restore the highest quality version of the series by comparing releases from around the world and combining the best available elements wherever possible.
Each international release is carefully analysed for differences in video quality, audio, subtitles, opening and ending sequences, title cards, chapter timings and other presentation elements. Every source is documented to determine its strengths and weaknesses before restoration work begins.
The restoration process may include:
- Comparing video masters from multiple regions.
- Reversing PAL speed-up where appropriate.
- Inverse telecine (IVTC) to recover the original progressive frames from NTSC sources.
- AI upscaling and detail enhancement where it improves the final image.
- Audio restoration, synchronisation and lossless preservation.
- Subtitle comparison and correction.
- Recreation or restoration of episode titles and credits using the cleanest available sources.
- Repairing damaged or missing frames where possible.
- Careful quality control to ensure consistency throughout the series.
Every restoration decision is documented so the project’s progress remains transparent and reproducible. As new sources become available, the project may be revised to produce an even more accurate preservation of the series.
